7 Methods to Fix Script Call Failed in Sims 4

Method 1: Call the Game’s System Files

If the scripts error is because of a broken system file then you will need to do a few more steps. The Sims 4 servers are connected to the Internet so if the system file has been corrupted, then the game will have no power to play.
So, you will need to restart your computer or laptop to solve the issue. The next time the Sims 4 comes up, then you should go back to the game’s installation folder. To do this;

  • Launch the Start menu.
  • Navigate to the Windows search box and type “System”. This will give you the locations to open up the Windows Program Files folder.
  • Click on the System folder and find the folder called SC4. Access the folder from within the Windows 10 File Explorer window.
  • Once you open it up, you should see the Sims 4 .exe file.
  • Double-click it to launch the game. We believe this will get the ‘Script Call Failed in Sims 4’ fixed for you.

Method 2: Get an Updated Controller Plugin

If your Simultaneous Player-Simultaneous Communication (SPPC) doesn’t work, then you might want to download the latest update to the Sims 4 Controls Plugin. It’s updated automatically with the game every time you start it up, so you can always keep it up to date.

Disable Windows 10 High Priority Mode This is a Windows feature that prevents programs from running while you are using other programs. Unfortunately, Windows 10 High Priority Mode prevents the script calls, so Sims can no longer send/receive messages to each other.

Disable Minecraft The updated version of the Sims 4 Controls Plugin includes the Minecraft plugin, which includes a built-in Minecraft server for your Sim to run in.

Method 3: Re-Establishing Offline Access to the Game

So how can you reinstall the SimCity 4 game so that it is able to connect to Origin? Well first you will need to connect to the Origin system and give it access to the SimCity 4 game. Follow the steps below;

  • Click on the Origin icon
  • Click on “Play Now” next to your Origin game
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to get the game up and running. If that doesn’t work you can try this on another computer by following our last method below.

Method 4: Delete and Reinstall Your Game

If the script call has failed, you’ll probably need to reinstall your computer, and there’s nothing wrong with that. As mentioned above, this can be done in a number of ways, and Sims 4 has a section on how to install the game as well.
For Mac users, the quickest and easiest way to do this is to go to the download page for Sims 4 and look for your version. The exact requirements will vary by region, but as long as you have a Mac, you should be able to get the game.
If you’ve got a Windows machine, you can also install it with Windows Live Mail. Follow the steps below;

  • Google the download link and download it.
  • Once your download of the game has finished downloading, click the download button to go to the Windows store. The download will take a few minutes to complete, so don’t panic if you don’t see the download button just yet.

Method 5: Update Your Laptop or Computer’s Drivers

One of the first things you should do is update your laptop or computer’s drivers. If your laptop doesn’t have built-in support of the game, then you will need to download the installer from the Microsoft website.

Once the file is downloaded, you’ll need to right-click it, and select the “Run as administrator.” Once the file is installed, you should be all set. Update your computer’s video drivers. There are a number of PC’s out there that can’t make use of the game’s Optifine or Performance modes, but if you have a Mac and you need to use them, then you’ll need to download the free video drivers.

The Windows version of the game does not include these video drivers, so you’ll need to make sure that you have the right version before proceeding.

Method 6: Reset Your Web Browser

If you have trouble getting Sim open after the Script call fails, then your browser may be to blame. Try going to your Sims 4 folder, and then searching for “sims/frontend_host.js”. If the script call fails after doing that, then there’s a good chance that your browser is trying to load the wrong script file.

You’ll want to go ahead and open up your browser again, and search for “sims/frontend_config.js”. If that script file works, then you’ll know that your web browser was trying to load a different file instead. Change your server’s DNS If your server doesn’t know your computer’s IP address, then you may have an issue with the script file, as well. Before you can fix this, you’ll need to change the server’s DNS settings. Open up a terminal window, and type “ipconfig”.

Method 7: Run a Virus Scan on Your Computer

Here is our last method of getting the Script Call Failed in Sims 4 fixed. When it comes to fixing script call errors, you can’t get a virus scan online to detect and remove any potential threats.

If you are using the Microsoft Windows antivirus, Norton Internet Security, you should get an automatic scan from the Windows Virus and Malware protection. If you don’t have that on your computer, you can set it up with your favorite antivirus software.

Take the Reinstallation Injury to the Next Level If the script call issue is fixed after you’ve installed the game, but before you play it, then all you have to do is uninstall the game and start over. With every game, there’s some data that can’t be recovered. When you’re prompted with this type of restart, you should take the time to do it. You’re not going to find yourself like this again.

  1. Or….. you could just update your mods, or stop leaving outdated mods in after patching. Just a thought. Absolutely none of the above is in any way necessary, as “script call failed” errors are always caused by outdated mods or broken custom content. 😉
